Melody Thompson wins Top Award in North American Floral Design Contest. |
| Ten talented designers were selected as
finalists in the 19th annual FLOWERS & Magazine Design Contest, each
with an entry featuring one dozen roses from a record setting nearly 500
entries. |
| The top ten entries were selected
via a panel of experts, including Editor, Publisher of FLOWERS&
Magazine and three accomplished experts in floral designs and AISD
members. Entries were then featured in the magazine's August 2003 issue, without any
identity placed with the photos. Readers of the magazine voted for
their favorite designs. |
|
Melody placed third after tabulation of the votes, and was
the top design for the United States. |

Melody and her shop will be featured along
with the other winners in the November issue of the magazine and was
awarded a cash prize as well. "I love themes and working
with theme events. As we specialize in high style designs and are
known for the high quality of our roses designs, I felt this contest
was of particular interst to Lafayette Florist," says
Melody. All designers at the store provided an entry, as it
was an opportunity for them to collectively cultivate their
creativity and generate enthusiasm in the shop. "We all
felt it would be a wonderful bonus for the team to gain recognition
if we were fortunate enought to place" |
|
| "This year's theme, One Dozen
Please, was a real challenge, and we received a lot of very creative
responses to it, " say Rich Salvaggio AIFD, AAF, PFCI, Publisher of
FLOWERS& and Vice President of Industry Relations and Publications at
Teleflora. "The results prove that the possibilities for
interpreting any request are truly endless for an inspired floral
designer." |
